Welcome to Radio Training

Welcome to the Radio Training website of Words of Hope. We maintain several other related websites you may also wish to see. These include:

We also participate in the production of Spotlight, a daily radio program produced in specialized English and aired around the world. You may also want to check it out. Access to this website requires a password. Preference for password access will be given to Christian radio producers working outside the domestic U. S. broadcasting community (especially those producing Words of Hope programs) and to students in Christian colleges and universities.

This site is designed to introduce basic skills for using radio effectively. It is designed to assist people who produce Christian radio programs, especially those involved in missions work. It provides information on:

  • the nature of sound
  • recording and editing sound
  • correcting bad sound
  • using the voice
  • using music
  • digital vs. analog sound
  • interviewing
  • constructing radio programs
  • writing program scripts,
  • audience relations, and
  • the process of constructing radio programs, from idea to final product.

This site is designed for new radio producers, although more experienced producers may discover something of interest in it. There are sample scripts, an extensive glossary of audio terms in both the analog and digital worlds, sound bites, a page for interaction both with the author or with other Christian radio producers via both e-mail and threaded discussion. groups. To access the remainder of this site you need to request access. Simply send me an email asking for permission. Tell me who you are and why you're interested. I may ask you some questions and then determine your eligibility. You will not be "spammed" as a result of answering any of my questions. We also solicit your feedback. Please let us know if the site is useful to you. Once you've been approved for access, you may use the menu buttons to begin to use the site. It is continually under construction, so if what you're looking for isn't here the first time you use it, come back! Or email me with specific issues you'd like to see addressed here, and I'll try to create those pages next.
